Workshop
Our workshop consists of three main departements.
CNC workshop
The CNC workshop houses two CNC routers. It’s here where we produce the parts for our new therapy chair and some other disability equipment. We also produce custom-made products and craft items which generate much needed income for our organisation.
Metal workshop
In the metal workshop we produce metal parts for the positioning chair and other wooden disability equipment to increase stability and reduce weight.
New equipment like washing aids are currently developped.
Product Development
With more than 11 years of experience in equipment we have learnt that it is important for the technical staff and the therapists to work closely together. The workshop is constantly working to find ways that take our equipment to the next level and with the therapists using the equipment in the field, it allows for the workshop to gather valuable feedback with regards to keeping the designs simple, effective and durable. Adding to that, we have brought onboard a CNC machine that allows us more creativity in design.
Upskilling
With the support of many international volunteers who come with their diverse qualifications and training, our permanent workshop staff are given the opportunity to expand and refine their expertise.
Skills Training
While we are intentional in keeping our permanent workshop staff current in their skills, we also believe strongly in social uplift and providing a platform where basic skills may be learnt, applied and further developed.
Whether candidates have committed to a short or a long term internship, we hope to present real-life opportunities to take on responsibilities that would equip a candidate well, strengthening their employability status.
